Houthi-affiliated media reported that U.S. aircraft launched airstrikes on Saturday evening targeting various sites belonging to the group across three Yemeni provinces, including Saada, the main stronghold of the group’s leader.
According to the group’s media, “U.S. aircraft targeted the vocational institute in Al-Sawma’ah District of Al-Bayda Governorate,” without providing further details.
Later, the group stated that three additional airstrikes targeted the Al-Sahlain area in Al-Salem District of Saada Governorate in northern Yemen.
It also reported that two airstrikes targeted Al-Munirah District in Al-Hudaidah Governorate, in the west of the country.
On the first day of Iranian-American negotiations in Muscat, the group showed restraint, refraining from announcing any attacks on the U.S. aircraft carrier in the Red Sea.
On Saturday evening, Washington and Tehran concluded the first round of indirect talks held in the Sultanate of Oman, agreeing to hold a second round next week.
Both countries stated through official statements that the talks, which focused on the nuclear issue and sanctions relief, were conducted in a “positive and constructive atmosphere.”
According to a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry, “The talks lasted for more than two and a half hours and included an exchange of views between Abbas Araghchi, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Foreign Minister, and Steve Whiticoff, the U.S. President’s Special Envoy to the Middle East, through the mediation of the Omani Foreign Minister.”
In a notable development, the Iranian Foreign Ministry added that “the heads of the Iranian and American delegations spoke briefly together for a few minutes while leaving the talks, in the presence of the Omani Foreign Minister.”
