More details emerged about the Italian factory’s decision to relocate part of its production activities from the Chinese city of Ningbo to Algeria.
Three industrial units will be launched with three local Algerian partners, reflecting the two countries’ commitment to further strengthening their industrial partnership.
In this context, the Italian group Idrobase, a global leader in pressurized water equipment, announced the signing of three contracts to launch production in Algeria. The first concerns components for professional vacuum cleaners; the second concerns components for cleaning products for car washes, hotels, and restaurants; and the third concerns components for pressurized water cleaners for professionals.
According to Italian media reports, including the business and economic news website “Affari Italiani,” under the agreements, the three Algerian companies contracted with Idrobase will receive modern technologies and industrial expertise from the group’s Chinese branch (Idrobase Ningbo) and its headquarters in Italy. The latter will oversee production operations and ensure compliance with required standards.
This move is part of the group’s new international strategy, which is headquartered in Borgoricco, in the province of Padua, northern Italy. The group seeks to expand its business in Africa through a proactive plan aligned with the economic directions of the Italian government’s Mattei Plan, which aims to strengthen cooperation between Rome and the African continent.
According to the same source, “the preparation period for launching production is estimated at nine months. This is the time required to equip the manufacturing lines and train the local Algerian workforce. Some components will be manufactured locally in Algeria and will be later assembled with parts imported from the Italian company’s factories, contributing to the production of integrated final products of Idrobase”.
Bruno Gazzignato, a partner at Idrobase group, confirmed that the products manufactured in Algeria will be available in the local and African markets. He noted that the parent company will handle brand promotion, link producers with customers, and ensure strict quality control.
For his part, Bruno Ferrarese, the strategic marketing manager at Idrobase group, explained that this project is the result of a strategy developed by Idrobase three years ago, aiming to strengthen its presence in the cleaning equipment sector, starting with Africa and then expanding to other global markets.
The spokesman added; “We believe this partnership will provide valuable collaboration opportunities with emerging economies, achieving common goals for both parties.”
Ferrarese concluded his statement: “We may be the first European company to relocate its operations from China to Algeria, and this is an important strategic step in our journey.”
